The Police Psychological Services Section of the IACP acts as a resource to the Association on psychologically-related issues in assessment, consultation and operational assistance.  The Section provides continuing education and training to the Association and its members to further ethical and empirically-based practices, and develops and maintains a set of current guidelines for the Association's members as a resource for commonly encountered police psychological activities. 

American Board of Professional Psychology: Police and Public Safety

The American Board of Professional Psychology (ABPP) serves the public need by providing oversight certifying psychologists competent to deliver high quality services in various specialty areas of psychology. Board certification (awarding of a Diploma in a specialty) assures the public that specialists designated by the ABPP have successfully completed the educational, training, and experience requirements of the specialty, including an examination designed to assess the competencies required to provide quality services in that specialty.

Council of Specialties in Police and Public Safety Psychology

The Council of Specialties in Professional Psychology (CoS) is a non-profit joint venture, initially sponsored by the American Psychological Association (APA) and the American Board of Professional Psychology (ABPP), to represent and support the development and functioning of recognized specialties in Professional Psychology.

International Assessment Services

International Assessment Services, Inc. (IAS) provides consultation, on-site response, and training to corporations and government agencies in the sensitive inquiries into difficult personnel situations involving unacceptable workplace behavior, threats, intimidation, harassment, issues of reasonable/unreasonable accommodation, and violent/potentially violent behavior in the workplace by employees, former employees, employee family members, or other third parties.  Society Member and Society President Elect James T. Turner, Ph.D. is the President of IAS.
